Singapore Eats: Ah Bong's Italian, Bugis

One day to go to Friday but there's no rule that thou shall not start foodie adventure on a Thursday night. "Make your days count", I still remember what the Pastor said on Sunday during one of his sermons and yeah, nobody can bring back a second, a minute, an hour, and of course, a day. So let's make our day count by doing things that we don't vomit blood doing.

Unfortunately, sometimes we can't help but vomit blood at work though.

So when those days come, it is time to have an enjoyable dinner and this time around, the dinner venue falls on Ah Bong's Italian.

Singapore Eats: Ah Bong's Italian, Bugis

Ah Bong's Italian is a pasta restaurant which was originated from Tiong Bahru. It used to operate as one of the stall in Kopitiam at Tiong Bahru and subsequently, it opens its first restaurant around there. Now, Ah Bong's Italian has opened another more accessible restaurant at Tan Quee Lan street, which is situated within walking distance from Bugis MRT.

Just like the restaurant's name, Ah Bong's Italian provides comfort pasta dishes. Its variety of pasta dishes change from here and then but the popular dishes tend to stay longer such as Angus Meat Ragu (SGD 16). I love the presentation of the pasta on a retro plate. You get the feeling of eating in a retro setting and yet, eating pasta instead of let's say, nasi lemak (I love nasi lemak too, fyi). The Angus Meat Ragu taste slightly salty but I like it that way. The sauce is more on the watery side instead of cream. The pasta is chewy without being too al-dente. Ah Bong's Italian makes its own pasta I read somewhere.

My friend ordered Barramundi Cream (SGD 16) which taste lighter compared to the Ragu. The pasta is the same, handmade. Despite the name of the dish contains the word "cream", I find the sauce still...watery. But it's tasty nonetheless so all is good.
