Staycation in Swissotel Merchant Court, Clarke Quay

Hello! How has everyone been? The weather recently has been pretty much wet and hence, it has been totally difficult to wake up in the morning to work. But without salary, you will not be able to enjoy a lot of stuff in life. For instance, a staycation night at Swissotel Merchant Court in Clarke Quay area.

I am actually not really a staycation person because the rate for a hotel in Singapore is quite expensive. But this time, we went for staycation to celebrate one of our bestie's single day before she gets married the month after. So we are going to share this classic double room amongst the three of us (yes, cheap much?). Hahaha. To be honest with you, if you have extra budget I suggest book bigger room because fitting three adults on that double size bed is kinda uncomfortable especially if you are the one who sleep in the middle. Really.

Okay enough talk about the bed. Let's explore what kind of amenities that Swissotel Merchant Court provides in their bedroom. For instance, there is a Nespresso machine inside the room. Both my friends went crazy for this machine but they could not operate the machine and even ended up calling help from the receptionist. Hahaha. In the end, there is nothing wrong with the machine, my friend just did not put enough water inside the machine. Lesson learnt.

If you are not coffee drinker, there is a selection of TWG teas available in the room from English Breakfast, Moroccan Mint Tea, Emperor Sencha (most likely green tea) and Earl Grey Tea.

The hotel location is quite near to both shopping malls in Clarke Quay area, the Central and Liang Court. There are so many things to do in the vicinity too from eating chili crab (at Jumbo), chilling out with a glass of beer in your hand while watching football matches or live band performance, clubbing, eating steamboat, and even karaoke session. If you are in the mood of doing something daring, you can also go for the reverse bungee. I'd rather keep my two feet on the ground though thank you very much.

Since we stayed up pretty late after a karaoke session at Party World KTV over at Liang Court, we decided to sleep in and ordered a room service for breakfast instead. I think if you stay alone in the hotel, you should go for the buffet breakfast rather than room service because the price is more or less quite near and there are more varieties provided on the buffet table. But since it's already 10.30AM and we have to check out by 12PM, we decided to just share this American Continental Breakfast.

The breakfast set comes with a bowl of muesli (which taste good, I'm surprised cause I'm usually not a fan of muesli).

The main plate looks pretty standard with toast and egg, hash brown, bacon stripes (two, to be exact) and a half sliced tomato.

The rate for the double room that we booked is SGD 260 per night (booked via I think you may get cheaper rate if you book the room directly with the hotel. Thankfully is willing to give us vouchers for the price difference because well, they do guarantee to refund us if we can find outside rate which is better than's rate. =P
